China to embrace big data exchange commerce

The head of China's biggest server manufacturer expects China to embrace data exchange commerce in the next three to five years as the big data industry continues to boom.

Inspur Group chairman Sun Pishu said that like the popular e-commerce platforms, the new form of data commerce will offer platforms that cater to the increasing need for data exchange.

"As a fundamental means of production, data lies at the core of today's digital society. To better develop and use the data, we need more data platforms for exchange and distribution," he added.

Sun made the comments at the pending China International Big Data Industry Expo in Guizhou province on Friday. He said data exchange commerce will not only allow users to exchange data but also develop and apply the data as required.

The Shandong-based company has been stepping up efforts to drive the development of big data exchanges.

In March, China launched the first national engineering laboratory for big data distribution and exchange technologies led by several enterprises and institutions including Inspur.

Between 2010 and 2015, China doubled its sales in the information industry, hitting 17.1 trillion yuan ($2.47 trillion), according to a government plan unveiled in January.
