Mazda small crossover, roadster to make China debuts

Mazda Motor Corp. says two of its new models, the CX-3 subcompact crossover and the MX-5 RF roadster, will make their China debuts next month at the Shanghai auto show.

The vehicles are powered by Mazda's Skyactiv direct-injection 2.0-liter gasoline engine, according to Mazda.

The CX-3 made its global debut at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The new MX-5 RF, which features a retractable hardtop, was revealed at the 2016 New York auto show.

Mazda has yet to disclose whether it will produce the two models in China.

Mazda delivered 40,804 light vehicles in China in the first two months of the year, up 5 percent from the same period in 2016.

It is the fourth-largest Japanese carmaker in China, behind Honda Motor Co., Nissan Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp.
