Geely deliveries rise as new models stand out
Geely Automobile Holdings' deliveries jumped 71 percent to 102,653 vehicles in January on strong demand for four new models -- the Boyue, Emgrand GS and Vision crossovers and Emgrand GL compact sedan.
Boyue deliveries totaled 20,147 vehicles last month, while the other three models each recorded sales of 10,000-plus vehicles.
Geely aims to increase annual China sales by 31 percent to 1 million vehicles in 2017.
Last year, deliveries soared 50 percent to 765,851 vehicles on strong demand for the four new models. Geely estimates that its net profit in 2016 doubled to 4.5 billion yuan ($660 million), reflecting explosive sales growth and improved product mix.
The private Chinese carmaker is preparing to launch a new global brand, Lynk & CO. Late this year, Lynk will roll out its first model, a crossover. In 2018, the new brand plans to market the crossover in Europe and the United States.
Geely, based in the east China city of Hangzhou, is listed in Hong Kong. Its parent, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., also owns Volvo Car Corp.
