Thomson in China IT Testing Pact

Thomson Prometric testing division has teamed up with the Computing Technology Industry Association (Comptia)

BALTIMORE (AP) - Business information company Thomson Corp. said Tuesday its Thomson Prometric testing division has teamed up with the Computing Technology Industry Association (Comptia), Chinese personal computer maker Lenovo, and IT service supplier Sunny Tech to provide standardized information technology training and certification in China.

Thomson said the agreement would give all parties a presence in the growing Chinese market, and help the country's IT industry adopt and conform to standards used by personal computer makers worldwide.

Thomson said it would oversee administration and management of test delivery services for A+ and Network+ certifications, and will work with the other three entities to protect the security and quality of Comptia training and testing services in China.

The Chinese-language Comptia certification exams will only be available in China via testing centers approved by Thomson, the company said.

Shares of Thomson closed 14 cents higher at $39.38 on the New York Stock Exchange.
