Freudenberg opens headliner production line in Suzhou
Freudenberg Group says it has opened a production line to produce headliners at its plant in Suzhou, in eastern China.
Freudenberg & Vilene Nonwovens, a joint venture with Japan Vilene Co., of Tokyo, runs the plant.
The joint venture says it can produce printed headliners, and it claims to be the only manufacturer in China with its own printing facility.
"This gives us the ability to offer customers innovative, individualized products with the most up-to-date designs while ensuring consistently high quality", said Frank Heislitz, chief technology officer of Freudenberg Performance Materials, in a written statement.
Korean and Japanese automakers have shown a "marked preference" for printed headliners, according to Freudenberg.
The company has invested nearly 2.5 billion yuan ($375 million) in its Chinese operations.
