Mazda recalls 11,449 vehicles to fix faulty suspension components

Mazda Motor Corp. is recalling 11,449 imported vehicles to repair potentially defective lower control arms, the Xinhua news agency reported, citing government officials.

The Japanese automaker will recall CX-7 crossovers built in 2009-12 and CX-9 crossovers produced in 2012-13, according to China's quality watchdog, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

The CX-7 recall will begin in December while the CX-9 models will be recalled starting next April.

According to Xinhua, automakers in China recalled a record 8.8 million vehicles in the first six months, more than twice as many as in the year-earlier period.
