EV, plug-in hybrid deliveries nearly double
Government subsidies continue to stimulate green-vehicle sales in China, with combined deliveries of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids surging 98 percent year on year to roughly 36,000 vehicles in July.
EV demand soared 144 percent last month from a year earlier to approximately 26,000 vehicles while plug-in hybrid deliveries advanced 33 percent to approach 10,000 vehicles.
Through July, EV and plug-in hybrid sales totaled 207,000 vehicles in China, a jump of 122 percent from the same period last year. The tally includes roughly 153,000 EVs and 54,000 plug-in hybrids.
In China, only domestically produced EVs, plug-in hybrids and fuel-cell vehicles qualify for government subsidies. No fuel cell vehicles were sold in the first seven months.
