Geely to expand annual China output by 150,000 vehicles
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group plans to expand annual production in its Chinese assembly plants by 150,000 vehicles, the Nikkei news service reported.
A Geely executive disclosed the company's plans after a shareholders' meeting in Hong Kong, Nikkei reported.
The automaker has capacity to produce 850,000 vehicles annually.
Geely is eager to expand production because its two new crossovers, the Boyue and the Emgrand GS, are enjoying strong demand. The company plans to roll out a third crossover this year. Geely will boost monthly crossover output to 20,000 vehicles this year, Nikkei reported on Tuesday.
Through July, Geely delivered 328,859 vehicles, an increase of 17 percent from a year earlier. This year, the company aims to boost China sales 29 percent to 660,000 vehicles.
