Nanjing _ The rivalry between South Korea's two top conglomerates _ Samsung and LG Group _ is flaring up here in China as fierce as in their homeland.
In Korea, the two-way battle appears to be a lopsided victory for Samsung, by far the country's largest chaebol by any measure, over the fourth-biggest player LG.
However, LG plans to make a different landscape in potential-rich China on the strength of its iconic products such as cell phones and flat-panel displays.
``During the first five months of this year, roughly 60 percent of Chinese producers of plasma display panel (PDP) snapped up our modules,'' said LG president Yang Jung-bae, who takes charge of the firm's PDP and monitor factories in Nanjing
