Benteler launches Shenyang plant to supply suspension parts for BMW
Benteler Automotive opened a factory in the northeast China city of Shenyang to supply suspension parts to BMW AG's Chinese joint venture.
The $20 million (132 million yuan) plant will employ more than 140 people.
The 9,400-square-meter (101,181-square-foot) plant is Benteler's ninth in China. The other eight factories build parts for chassis, bodies, engines and exhaust systems.
BMW Brilliance Automotive, of Shenyang, is a 50-50 partnership between BMW and Brilliance China Automotive Holdings. It produces the BMW 3- and 5-series sedans and the X1 crossover.
This year, the joint venture opened an engine plant and foundry in Shenyang to build turbocharged three- and four-cylinder engines for locally produced BMW cars.
