IDC Shows Lenovo Continues to Be Leader in China PC Market
IDC says Lenovo, the world's third largest PC manufacturer, continues to take the first position in the Chinese PC market
(SinoCast China Business Daily News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)BEIJING, June 05, SinoCast -- IDC says Lenovo, the world's third largest PC manufacturer, continues to take the first position in the Chinese PC market, with its PC market coverage reaching 31.3% in the first quarter of the year, going down compared with the former quarter's 36%.
IDC predicts that in China, compared with last year's PC sales of 19 million units, this year's sales may increase 17.6% to about 22 million units, and 4.4 million PCs were sold in the first quarter.
A senior officer of IDC Asia-Pacific Region comments that because in the third and fourth quarter of last year, Lenovo went too fast in occupying China's PC market, it had to make some adjustments in the first quarter. Compared with 29.6% market share of the corresponding period of last year, when Lenovo injected USD 1.25 billion in acquiring IBM's PC unit, its market share for this first quarter is still higher.
Figures of IDC also show that the other top four PC manufacturers (from the second position to the fourth) are Founder, Dell, HP, with their market coverage respectively reaching 12.7%, 9.3% and 7.7%, higher than their figures of the same period of last year.
