Mercedes deliveries soar 27% in March
Daimler AG said China sales of its Mercedes-Benz and Smart brands soared nearly 27 percent year on year to 38,133 vehicles in March on strong demand for its crossovers.
Mercedes' performance was even better in the first three months, with deliveries rising 36 percent to 106,641 vehicles.
While the company did not disclose sales by individual model, demand for the CLA compact sedan and GLA crossover have been strong.
The German automaker will get an additional lift in April when the V-class multipurpose vehicle goes on sale in conjunction with the Beijing auto show.
Mercedes has begun V-class production in an assembly plant in the southeast city of Fuzhou.
