1200 polluting enterprises to move out of Beijing by 2016
In the first half of 2015, 185 polluting enterprises have moved out of Beijing. As of the end of 2016, a total of 1200 polluting enterprises will get out of Beijing, one year earlier in accomplishing the target of keeping the clean air of city, according to a recent statement made by the municipal authorities.
In order to improve the environment, Beijing is now seeking an economic, environmental friendly and recyclable path for development.
In the last few decades Beijing used to seek a comprehensive development. Along with the expansion of the city, many problems emerged. Beijing used to have 35 of the total 39 manufacturing sectors. 13 of them are labor intensive, energy and water consuming as well as heavy polluting, according to Zhang Boxu, director of Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology.
As Beijing’s role becomes more and more clear as China’s center for politics, culture, scientific innovation and international exchange, the city now has new approaches in solving the problems in its development.
Zhang Boxu said:”We must transform our development model and embark on a sustainable path. In 2014 Beijing arranged a 195 million yuan budget to support the relocating of the polluting enterprises.”
