Spanish supplier opens third China plant in Shenyang
Ficosa International S.A., a Spanish supplier of automotive mirrors, parking brakes, gearshifts and cables, opened a plant in the northeast China city of Shenyang to supply automakers in north and northeast China.
The plant, Ficosa's third factory in China, will mainly produce rearview mirrors and parking brakes for BMW AG, Brilliance China Automotive Holdings, Great Wall Motor Co. and BAIC Motor Corp.
The plant, covering an area of 10,000 square meters, will employ 400 people over the next four years.
Ficosa also plans to open a new factory in south China by 2017, although it did not disclose its location.
The company has plants in the east China city of Taicang and the southwest China municipality of Chongqing. After entering China in 2002, Ficosa says its annual sales growth has topped 20 percent.
Ficosa, headquartered in Barcelona of Spain, has 8,700 employees in 18 countries, including 1,000 in China.
