Ford's April China deliveries remain flat on weak commercial truck sales
Ford Motor Co.'s sales in China last month were virtually unchanged from a year earlier, as weak demand for commercial trucks negated rising sales of passenger vehicles.
Ford delivered 96,889 vehicles in April, barely up from 96,829 a year earlier.
Changan Ford Automobile Co. sold 72,579 passenger vehicles last month, up 7 percent.
Sales of the Ford Kuga rose 19 percent to 13,262, as demand for compact SUVs remained strong. Changan Ford did not release sales of its other models.
By contrast, deliveries of Jiangling Motors Corp., Ford's commercial truck partnership with Jiangling Holding Co., dropped 10 percent to 23,019.
Ford also imports a few vehicles into China, but the company did not disclose sales of those models.
For the first four months, Ford's China sales rose 7 percent from a year earlier to 393,714 vehicles.
