VW still No. 1 in China; sales up 12% in 2014
WOLFSBURG, Germany -- Volkswagen Group reported sales of a record 3.68 million vehicles in China last year, up 12 percent over 2013 and enough to retain bragging rights as China's largest foreign automaker.

Volkswagen Group's various luxury brands enjoyed especially strong sales.
Audi, China's top-selling luxury brand, delivered 578,932 units in 2014, up 18 percent from the previous year. Porsche sales jumped 25 percent to 46,931 units, and Bentley delivered 2,670 vehicles, up nearly 22 percent.
Czech automaker Skoda -- VW's inexpensive value brand -- reported sales of 281,400 units in China, up 24 percent.
While China's overall auto market is starting to cool, Volkswagen and General Motors both are spending heavily to expand production.
