Skyworth Digital Sold 823,000 TVs In China Last Month

Hong Kong-listed Skyworth Digital Holdings Limited has announced its unaudited sales statistics for August 2009 and states it sold 823,000 TVs during the month, a year-on-year decrease of 17%.

In addition, the company reported a year-on-year sales decrease of 24% to 2.99 million TVs during the period from April to August 2009.

Skyworth Digital stated it sold 621,000 TVs in the Chinese mainland market in August 2009, maintaining the similar performance as the same period of last year. Of the total sold products, the sales of high-definition CRT TVs decreased by 75% over the previous year; while the sales of flat-panel TVs increased by 246%. The company's TV sales in overseas markets decreased by 46% to 202,000 in August 2009.

According to Skyworth Digital's China color TV business department, its sales in August alone and from April to August 2009 both saw significant growth of 42% compared with the same period of last year. Due to the sales growth, the department has raised its sales goal for the fiscal year end March 31, 2010, from CNY13 billion to CNY19 billion.
