A "Capital of Software" was called to be built in Shenzhen
In the chilly winter of economy, the software industry was affected differently from other industries. Not only was it affected very little, but also was presented with a good opportunity of great development.
“I think the chillier the winter of economy appears to be, the stronger the call for building a ‘capital of software’ in Shenzhen must be”, Xu Shaochun spoke with passion, who was Kingdee’s chairman of the board．
Xu was also the president of Shenzhen Software Industry Association. All the time, he kept focusing on the development of Shenzhen software industry. In his opinion, Shenzhen software industry had numerous advantages and its output value ranked first in China, and its strength of research and development with core technology should be never underestimated. Shenzhen was absolutely qualified to be a “Capital of Software”, so the government should create a better environment for the development of software enterprises as it had provided for the design industry and cultural industry.
When Xu Shaochun talked about the software industry, he said with feeling and smile, “My white hair witnesses my work in the software industry for so many years, but I still feel very lucky to choose it as it has such a great potentiality”. Indeed, the software industry had been commonly considered as the soul of IT industry at present. “Shenzhen should highlight the development of the software industry and make use of it to promote its hi-tech industry, which can be extremely helpful for Shenzhen to build an innovative city”, Xu added.
What concerned Xu Shaochun was that Dalian, Chengdu, Qingdao and other cities were planning to build a “Capital of Software” and invited him as advisor for the development of their local software industry. “By virtue of so many obvious advantages in the software industry, Shenzhen is more qualified to become a capital of software so that the government must take some actions to work on this. The same as it is dedicated to support cultural industry and design industry, the government must concentrate on planning and investing in the software industry for its long-term development. If Shenzhen can be really built as a capital of software, it must indicate that the city can achieve a high level of transition”, said Xu.
Xu Shaochun also thought that software was a kind of intellectual treasure so that its benefits relied on human minds and would be never changed or reduced by the alteration of economic cycle. In the chilly winter of economy, the region with more advanced software industry must be stronger against the effects of financial storm. While Shenzhen was building a capital of software for economic development, it could put more investment in beautifying and promoting its environment. Only when the living environment was improved, talented people could stay in the city. “With the intention to develop Shenzhen into a city good for habitation, the software industry can lend a helping hand to make it more beautiful”.
