The delegation visited BMW stamping workshop and body workshop. In the stamping workshop, Tiexi Plant has the world fastest 6 in-process servo-driven stamping line with precision of 0.1 mm. There are 685 industrial robots in the body workshop and its automation rate achieves 95%.

The second stop is SYMG, a Shenyang-based machine tool group. SYMG’s machine tool products have occupied more than 70% of the market in automotive, aerospace, and defense industry since 2002.

Visiting SYMG

Mr. Xiyou Guan, SYMG Chairman introduced their i5 smart machine tool. i5 means Industry, Information, Internet, Integrate, and Intelligent. It has an imbedded i5 system and is man-machine interconnected and machine-machine interconnected. Operators can manage and monitor every i5 machine tool through WIS in their cell phones.

Finally, they visited Shengyang Institute of Automation Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIA). According to Dr. Yiyang Liu, Associate Research Fellow, their major research direction includes robotics, industrial automation, and photoelectric information processing.

Dr. Liu introducing SIA

Later, Dr. Liu showed the delegation around the Institute and intelligent assembly model lines jointly developed by SIA and SAP. The model line shows the customized production scenarios in the future smart plant. With SAP HANA, the line is fully integrated from ERP management level to execution. Via RFID, Robots can get product and process requirements information in SAP MES system and realize mixed-line production. Based on SIA’s organic WIA-FA technology, data of device status and production process can be collected quickly and transfer to SAP HANA to make fault diagnosis and lifecycle prediction.
